A pleasant musicale at the Berkshire organized by Mr. E. Rogers drew well filled parlor and hotel guests. Performances included recitations by Rogers and St. Clair, piano and violin solos by Lindsay Clark and Birkbeck, with St. Clair again singing accompanied by violin, all well received.
A humorous sketch in broad dialect follows a Darkey and a mule as they toil plowing a ten acre field. The scene shifts between playful banter and a wild chase when the mule bolts, the driver clinging to the lines while the poet observes with mock solemnity. The piece ends with comic misadventure and a stray joke about embalmed beer from Yonkers Statesman.
