Roads as solid investments for banks under good systems
Lee McClung, treasurer of the United States and of the American Association for Highway Improvement, says 142 million dollars were spent last year on road improvements funded by state and local bonds. Banks should back the movement for better roads to protect their assets and curb wasteful revenue handling, with Shenandoah Valley banks restricting real estate loans to properties on paved routes.

Dillon Wins Tie Play Off At Tin Whistles Club
The Tin Whistles regular tournament ended with a 36 hole medal play handicap. W. S. Dillon won a tie playoff with D. Wyatt for the top prize of 5S. Wyatt placed second, J. W. Hurd was third, and a group of players tied for the remaining prizes. Gold medals awarded for best net scores in big Country Club events drew winners including Chisholm Beach, C. L. Becker, Spencer Waters, and W. S. Dillon. A special event offers five prizes for players who have not won prizes this season.
