Miss Inez Gillespie wed Edward Winchester at the Gillespie home with Rev. H F Wright officiating. Attendants included Eugene Gillespie Mae Gillespie Ora Prince and Katie Gillespie. The couple, from Mountain Grove, plan to live at Six Mile after a Lake Toxaway trip.
The Ladies' Aid Society of Salem Methodist Church hosts an ice cream festival at the church parsonage on Saturday night September 4 starting at 7 30. Proceeds fund refurnishing the parsonage and the public is invited to attend.

A large turnout at Flat Rock near Carmel church marked an educational and agricultural rally on August 26. Speakers included J. C. Bailey K E McCravey J B Felton and Furman president M Poteat among others. Zion school children attended in force and a picnic dinner followed.
In a Saturday special election Johnston school district voted 53 in favor and 1 against a 24 mill levy, forming five mills of special levy for school purposes. Voters also plan a $6000 new school building, with Cathechee and Norris towns sharing in the effort and education’s advancement.
Notice to pupils of Pickens high and graded school with conditions to make up. Students must meet teachers at the graded school building on Saturday September 4 at 9 o clock for standing examinations in conditioned subjects. Students who failed to complete summer work will not be examined. Bring books and meet promptly. W M Meuron principal.
