October Meeting of Pickens UDC T DGC Chapter
The U D C Pickens chapter held its October meeting with Mrs TI Mauldin last Thursday afternoon. Key items included planning a bazaar for November 24 and a literary program on John C Calhoun. Mrs W T McFall read Memories, Mrs L B R Wiggins read a Calhoun sketch, and Mrs W M Melton sang Annie Laurie with piano by Mrs Mauldin. Mrs Aaron Boggs spoke of the Calhoun family and donated lace knitted by Mrs Calhoun. she was made an honorary life member.

Attendants were Geneva Looper Beattie Williams Ruth Mendricks Oscar Turner. Walter Turner played. The bride wore a white satin crown with fur trim. The couple will reside in Masley with the presents. Pickens presents a six show Lyceum course by Redpath Lyceum Bureau this winter led by Dr J D Yongue. The lineup includes The Musical Entertainers The Ravers The Savaranoffs Hazeltine Opera Jr The Regniers and Schildret's Hungarian Orchestra. First act The Musical Entertainers appears Wednesday night November 12 with season tickets $3.75 for the full series $2 for a single ticket and $1 for school children available at Keowee Pharmacy and Hobbs Henderson.

Oyster Supper To Benefit Pickens High School Building
The Pickens high school faculty hosts an oyster supper in Parson's hall next Friday night November 5 from 7 to 10. Proceeds fund furnishing and equipping the school building. Prices: oyster stew 25 cents fried oysters 25 cents, coffee pickles and crackers included, coffee and cake 10 cents. Public invited.

Death of Mrs W E Christopher in Liberty
Mrs W E Christopher died at her Liberty home on Monday October 95 at about 82 years old. Before marriage she was Miss Margaret Riggins, daughter of A B Riggins. Survived by husband and five children. Funeral at Six Miles Tuesday conducted by Rev WoC Seaborn and Rev Durham, with interment. Alice bereaved friends extend sympathy.
