Pay of Expenses Refused in Columbia Ga May 9

Comptroller General Jones released correspondence with Gov Blease and C W Creighton Greenwood special detective. The account for Creighton was not itemized and thus refused. The governor argued the bill should be honored and threatened court action if law supports Creighton's claim. He departed to Spartanburg for several days to examine law violations Creighton has investigated.

Mrs Lucy Dugas Tillman filed for divorce from Benjamin Ivan Tillman Jr in the insolvency court Monday citing cross neglect and failure to provide. The couple wed December 2 1903 at Edgefield DC and have two children tied to a notable episode involving Senator Tillman.

State selects firm to build electric chair for prison

The board of directors awarded the contract to Adam Electrical Company of Clinton New Jersey to erect and outfit the electric chair at the penitentiary. The chair will use mission oak and obtain current from Columbia’s electricity supplier. The project follows a 1912 act and aims to be ready by June with local power and state supervision.

The State Democratic Convention met in Columbia yesterday. Full county reports arrived late for The Sentinel. It was widely believed Judge Jones supporters would control the convention. A table shows the relative strength of Jones and Blease factions.

Chattanooga wins 1913 reunion site for G A R

The 22nd Confederate Veterans reunion in Macon features Chattanooga chosen as the 1913 reunion city after a stormy session. Jacksonville and San Antonio trailed with 606 and 476 votes as General Walker struggled to maintain order. Mary Scandrett of Macon named 1912 reunion queen on Coleman's Hill before about 20 000 people.
