Winthrop College Scholarship Exam Set for July Fifth

The Winthrop College Scholarship and Entrance Examination will be at the County Courthouse on Friday July 5 at 9 a.m. Applicants must be at least fifteen. Scholarships worth 100 dollars and free tuition will be awarded to top averages if vacancies remain after July 5. Apply to President Johnson for examination blanks. The next session begins September 18, 1932 in Rock Hill South Carolina.

Blease Plans Warrants Against Felder While Felder Heads South

Gov. Blease says he will have Greenville Spartanburg and other counties watch trains and arrest Tom Felder as he passes through the state on his way to the Baltimore Democratic Convention. He told reporters of a letter seeking a warrant and said he would seek Maryland requisition for Felder's return. Three warrants exist, including one from Newberry issued after a grand jury returned no bill last year.

Revenue officers raid mountains near Greenville County

United States revenue officers conducted a raid in the mountains of upper Greenville County last week. Four stills were cut on the trip and about 1500 gallons of beer and six gallons of whiskey were destroyed. Stills were found near Jones Gap road Table Rock Cove three miles west of River View and two miles west of Marietta. The beer and whiskey were at the fourth still. Officers Merrick Corn and Campbell started from Greenville and split at Riverview with Merrick proceeding to Pickens County.
