The Sentinel will charge regular advertising rates for notices about box suppers oyster suppers bazaars and entertainments intended to raise funds. Past five years saw hundreds of dollars in free ads but now to keep the paper viable we must charge one cent per word for the first insertion and half a cent per word for each subsequent insertion with cash accompanying the ad.

Local talent performed The Feast of the Red Corn in the school auditorium last Friday. Editor Sentinel letter from Lamas ever Reid Monroe North Carolina December 12 1917 describes four inches of snow across the country and crops in good condition along the Atlanta to Monroe route. He notes cotton gathering and critiques on farming on smaller plots with fertilizer and labor efficiency. He recalls Marlborough county corn yields near Drakes farm and asks if the practice persists. He laments late trains and urges punctual travel. The notice ends with a wedding: Miss Ione Swaynhame and Mr Claud Carter of Liberty married by J B Newbery at his residence December 28 1917.

Local and Personal Lonnie Stansell age five died after clothing caught fire from an open grate at his Easley cotton mills home. The child died the next day. Interment was at Glenwood cemetery on the 14th. The Easley Progress notes community sympathy. Miss Jennie Robinson died in Atlanta at a sanitorium from appendicitis. Her body was sent to Hashey and interred at George's Creek. Infant of Mrs Arias Mauldin died near Montague on Saturday the 15th and interred at Bethlehem Church. her father died recently and mother Mrs James Robinson was buried last week. G W Gailard of Liberty route 2 was in Pickens on business last Monday.
