A vintage advertisement extols Hall's Catarrh Medicine from J. Cheney & Co. Toledo Ohio as a constitutional remedy for catarrh. It promises a blood-borne action on mucous surfaces with a $100 reward for any untimely cure failure and promotes additional Hall's Family Pills for constipation.
Local notes report Mt Tabor church singing convention with praise for Essra Boggs and Chapman of Easley. Camp meetings in Olive and Bula are praised. L B Williams plans to move back near Easley. Miss Sithel Turner and Miss Christine Edens visit relatives. Roy C McWhite family welcomes a baby girl. L A Crenshaw visits his mother Jane Crenshaw while Lewis enjoys Montana. Mr Andrew J Day died after several months illness at age 68 in the Rock Springs section. He is survived by his wife formerly Miss Stegall, eight married children, two brothers Eliagy and Alonzo E Day, two sisters, and several in this county. Rev D W Hiatt conducted funeral and he was buried in the Day family cemetery one mile east of the city. Day was a skilled mechanic and farmer with a neat, attention attracting farm on the Easley bridge road.
J McSwain and A P DuBose announce a new law partnership in Greenville South Carolina. The firm operates as McSwain and DuBose practicing in the field of law.
Joseph A. Smith and Ellen Brooks wed December 9 1917 at the Liberty Presbyterian manse officiated by Rev John C Bailey. Ellen is the daughter of M C Brooks and the couple’s union was announced in local society notes.
James H. Price announces the marriage of his niece Lillian Eleanor Sommers to Henry Narle Seaborn on December 5 1917 in Greenville County Pickens notable figure Rev W G Seaborn is Seaborn family member and Hobbs Henderson Co Central department store manager will reside at Central after December 15th with friends extending congratulations
Homer Gantt of Liberty and Miss Lois Strickland wed at the bride’s brother-in-law and sister C L Curry home in Greenville on Wednesday November 28 with Rev J H Machen officiating. Only relatives and close friends attended. They now reside in Liberty and welcome friends.
Miss Essie Clayton and Mr. Arthur Lott wed at the Clayton home on Liberty Route 2 in a small family ceremony conducted by Rev. G. A. Hodges. The couple will reside in Monetta after the nuptials.
Invitations announce the wedding reception of Eudora Woolfolk Ramsay and Fitzhugh Briggs Richardson on Thursday December 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Greenville Woman's College in Greenville South Carolina. Anthony Griffin, a respected Black resident, froze to death at his Pickens home Sunday night. age about 84, owned home and farm, buried at Cold Springs.
Miss Bernice Carey spent the weekend in Easley. Miss Inez Morris attended a reception at Central last week. The high school girls are preparing an operetta to be given Friday, December 21. Paul Hutchings visited the school for a day last week. Everybody is invited to attend the public meeting of the society on December 14 at 7 30.
