Basley arrest follows late night break in Easley assault attempt
A 2 year old black male was arrested in Basley after a Saturday night assault attempt on a white boarding house resident. Sheriff Roark sent him to Columbia for safekeeping as Easley residents feared lynching and a special court was promised. The case drew wide local attention and led to residents fleeing town.
