Farmers Institutes at Six Mile Draw Large Attendance

The farmers institutes held last week at Six Mile drew a large crowd in Pickens Saturday. Ooieney and Pickens were successful and experts said it was one of the most interesting meetings in the state. Attendees left with benefits for the farming community. Experts included W. H. Barton Prof. C. C. Newman W. R. Elliott Prof. Barr and Miss Frazier from Winthrop College.

Portland Ned Captured in North Carolina for Plymouth Robbery

James Johnson known as Portland Ned, a famed safe blower, was arrested in Danbury, North Carolina and moved to Greensboro to await federal trial for a Plymouth, North Carolina post office robbery committed over a decade ago. He had previously been paroled from the South Carolina penitentiary in 1913 after serving time for an Enoree safe robbery.
