It boasts boat material construction, American shoemakers, and sturdy patterns to earn buyer confidence. The message urges cash payment and promises plain proof of savings.
Executor E B Sloan announces sale of three farms in Seneca Township near Keowee River and Southern Railway. Tracts include Home Place 412 acres Lowery Place 814 acres and Ford tract 100 acres with dwellings. Sale 1 November with one third cash and balance in two annual installments secured by bond and mortgage.
Seneca notice announces the death of partner M W Coleman and that all business will be wound up this fall with a final settlement of the estate. Debts will be closed promptly. the business remains under W Coleman & Co until December 16 and then passes out of their hands. Receipts and settlements authorized before that date.

A mob in Hempstead Texas hangedJim Weasley and Reddick Barton after they were lawfully tried for criminal assault and murder. Despite pleas for troops, authorities withdrew, and the mob overran the jail and courtroom. Sheriff Lipscomb and Sheriff Sparks were injured. the Governor had not commented. The event follows a pattern of extrajudicial action tied to a debate over prisoner treatment and security.
October 20 report describes a mob seizing Charles Young accused of attacking Ed Lewis white man, burning him alive near Forest City. In Jackson on October 17 the final act before adjournment was $10,000 paid to Judge A C McKimbrough as personal representative of Mrs Jefferson Davis for Beauvoir the estate of the late Confederate president. Mrs Davis, in New York, was thanked for allowing the property sale. A syndicate once offered $110,000 for Beauvoir but the property will go to the State supported by a legislative appropriation. A board of managers will run Beauvoir with representation sought for the United Daughters of the Confederacy which has raised about $2,000 to equip the house. The next division meeting will be at Hattiesburg. The reunion’s closing feature was the reception at Lafleur Club by the Daughters and Veterans.
Mrs D A Switzer aged about 41 commits suicide at her Roebuck area home after leaving a note to her husband Dave and eldest children. She recently attended Sunday School and died from a self inflicted gunshot wound after disabling her leg with a razor. Husband discovered body later, note cited life as failure and plea to care for children. Switzer related to Col H D Floyd and hailed from a robust family.
