How to store sweet potatoes for year round use
A reader from Bamberg County details a pit storage method that preserves potatoes with minimal rot and weight loss. Dig before frost, place on cool damp earth, avoid straw on the bottom, use a roof of boards and earth cover, and fill pits three by six by five feet. The system, praised as superior to drying, suggests potential for apples and other fruits.
