The annual flower show takes place in Seneca on Thursday and Friday nights November 9 and 10. Local clubs and gardeners showcase blooms, with judging and prizes announced at the event.
The 4th Annual Flower Show by the Oconee Floral Association in Seneca town hall November 9 and 10 displayed an unusually fine chrysanthemum exhibit. The hall featured a palmed platform and a design titled The Gates Ajar along with diverse blooms, potted plants, and roses. Awards included best patch work, embroidery, quilts, and numerous vase and geranium prizes won by Mrs. Ry AL Gilmer, Mrs. W.P. Reid, Miss M. Abbott, and others. Local attendees from Clemson and nearby towns visited, with social notices of guests and residents.

The Clemson exhibit opened the fair with high honors as cadets staged a dress parade in the arena drawing immense crowds. Maj. Shanklin commanded the regiment with two battalions led by Majs Klugh and Martin, while Cadet Jutant D. J. Sullivan and Lieut. Georgy managed staff. The 20 piece band played well as troops executed arms and folds with precision. Taps closed the event at midnight, and the parade received high praise for military training.
Bloodshed follows weeks of revelations about the State Board of Control as five men are wounded. J Dudley Haselden, chairman, and his brother Luther M Haselden are among the injured after a dispute at Naselden’s gin near Sellers South Carolina ends with more than thirty shots fired. Postmaster Benjamin Sellers and other local figures participate as lines form between rival factions, with several men hit including a rifle shot to John G Sellers and a pistol wound to Haselden.
Wounded declare they are improving after a mob attack at the depot. Statements from Dudley Haselden and John C. Sellers recount of gunfire, with Sellers and Aubrey Evans firing from the waiting room and depot steps. A moral tale follows on parental responsibility and dangers facing children.
