Delegates from Virginia to Georgia reported in a Convention meeting where resolutions urged liberal patronage for a Southern newspaper in Washington and a committee on printing was appointed. Attendance listed many states with sizable Georgia and Alabama representation as talks hint at Missouri Compromise adoption and October resumption. A telegraphed update noted Portugal indemnity disputes and a pending special message to Congress by President Taylor.
