City Council Handles Deed and Oath of Office in 1883 Session

The Poquix City Common Council, meeting May 12 1883, approved a deed for M W Rules covering Lots 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and 2 of Block 54 and Lots 10 12 in Blues 74 for 46250. Mayors health officer and interpreter fees were approved. Bondings for Porter Mitchell Garfias were filed, the Recorder reported May 9 1862 to May 9 1883, and the council adjourned awaiting June meeting.

Railroad for Phoenix debated to Tucson route via Tempe

A city meeting at the Court House discussed building a narrow gauge railroad from Phoenix to Tucson via Tempe Mesa City and Florence. A two-person committee will consult Tucson leaders and report back after Mr Kales returns, with adjournment set for Thursday evening. Citizens urged immediate construction and regional involvement from Tempe and Mesa City.

Rumor of Crook Fight Dismissed in Military Circles

Prescott dispatch reports H C Clarkson convicted of manslaughter for killing William Taylor in December during a dispute over gambling proceeds. No anxiety or fear about General Crook exists in Mexican or American military circles, and the fight rumor is not credited.

Receipts include sale of city lots fines sale of water and compounded animals and cash from ex treasurer totaling 5670 32 dollars. Warrants paid 5355 11 dollars with cash on hand 415 21.
