Sunset Smelter to Start in June and Expand at Boundary Falls

The Sunset smelter at Boundary Falls, formerly Standard smelter, bought by Montreal & Boston Copper Company, is being dismantled for a larger plan. A No 5 Gates rock crusher, a Bridgeman sampler, and a larger engine have been ordered or purchased, new plant to arrive soon, with heavier sampling gear to supplement initial equipment. Alterations to buildings and extra ore bins planned. furnace operations may be delayed until improvements finish. John Riordan, Wester Pederg Labor Union district organizer, visited Grand Forks and organized a new branch, adding over dozens of members. Tom Lawrence elected president, M. J. Crask secretary.

A Boundary League formation is hoped to include Trail, Roseland, Nelson, Phoenix, Greenwood and the local team with a full schedule planned.
