Tippling Won't Raise Capacity For Alcohol
Chicago readers learn from Dr Henry W Newman of Stanford that a 154 pound person can metabolize only about 26 percent ounces of 100 proof whisky in 24 hours. Any excess enters the bloodstream causing drunkenness or unconsciousness. The Journal of the American Medical Association notes habituation does not increase metabolism. Larger people may drink more by virtue of bulk but no daily rise in tolerance.
