Arizona Site For Air Test Base Studied
A conference in the Arizona Capitol explored locating a $100,090,000 Air Force supersonic wind tunnel and air development center at Kingman. Governor Dan E. Garvey and six Air Force engineers led the talks to determine final site with Defense Secretary Louis Johnson to decide. Other sites in California Nevada and Oklahoma were under consideration. The project would require about 1,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity for field tests in trans sonic and supersonic aeronautics. An Arizona delegation earlier urged use of Davis Dam or Hoover Dam power for the facility. The group toured suggested sites with Ed Jameson Mohave County former speaker of the Arizona House.

High Price Support Wins In Conference
A 14 member Senate House conference voted 11 to 3 to keep price supports at 90 percent of parity for six basic crops under planting and marketing controls. Tobacco already secured 90 percent and the move mirrors parity for cotton, wheat, corn, tobacco, rice and peanuts. Conferees said the deal largely matches Senate and House positions, though some lawmakers opposed flexible price plans. The action preserves federal control over basic crops as long as a surplus exists.
