Fire Levels Williams plant at $85,000 loss

Dynamite Found Outside Berlin American Soldiers Club
Sixteen sticks of dynamite manufactured in the Soviet Zone were found outside the popular American soldiers club in Berlin. Col James T. Duke, the Berlin post commandant, said authorities believed the device was planted to intimidate the Americans rather than to demolish the clubhouse. The dynamite was bundled into four packages and tossed near the walls of Club 48 yesterday.

LONDON Nov 7 Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky of Russia was named defense minister of Poland. The move drew strong reaction from the British Foreign Office, which said it showed Moscow’s control over Poland. The Moscow radio had announced Rokossovsky’s loan to Poland at President Boleslaw Bierut’s request. Critics say the appointment signals Kremlin influence and undermines Polish patriots who fought from Warsaw’s suburbs in 1944.

Pilot steered doomed B-25 from Milledgeville toward open country
Six servicemen parachuted safely from a disabled Williams Air Force Base B-25 near Milledgeville Georgia. Captain David W. Wenger of Denver ordered the crew to jump as an engine failed and a magneto fire started. He rode the aircraft to 800 feet to avoid the town before bailing out, the plane crashing northwest of the city. One co pilot sprained an ankle. three hitchhikers jumped earlier. The flight originated at Chandler Arizona and stopped at Barksdale Louisiana. A car was the only fatality.
