Trade Pact Setup Safe For 2 Years
The Senate approved an extension of the reciprocal trade agreements program to June 12, 1953 by a 72 to 2 vote, with the House backing a three year extension. The measure aims to curb trade with Communist bloc nations, granting the President limited power under peril point and escape clause provisions to resist tariff cuts deemed harmful to American producers.
