Petitions Push Ward System For Phoenix Council
Petitions circulating in Phoenix seek a special city election to adopt a ward system with six districts and one council member per district while the mayor remains elected at large. The proposal, printed by Sims Printing, would require stricter candidacy rules and a one year district residence, with a potential 90 day path to a special election after signatures are certified.
