Truck Plunges From Central Avenue Bridge
An unidentified man was seriously injured when a speeding pickup collided with a sedan on the Central Avenue Bridge over Salt River. The truck ripped out three bridge sections and plunged to the dry river bed 20 feet below. Passersby freed the trapped driver, who was taken to Humanity Memorial Hospital with a broken arm and concussion. The other driver, H. S. Dick, 75, of Route 1, suffered no injuries. The truck, bearing Illinois plates, had no registration.

Father shoots daughter then self in Atlantic City tragedy
