Regular Envelope OK For POW Mail

The post office department said today an ordinary envelope may be used for letters intended for prisoners of war in Korea or China. A department spokesman said the government has no forms, but that letters may be sent in ordinary envelopes. There is no assurance of delivery, since letters must go through Communist hands. Letters meant for prisoners should contain the man's name, rank, serial number and be addressed to: "Care of the Chinese People's Committee for World Peace, Peking, China." No stamp is needed, but the words "prisoner of war mail" should be written in the usual place for stamps. The letter may be mailed in the usual way.
