Reservoir storage in Arizona doubles from last year
A Jan 15 USDA report shows total storage in Arizona irrigation reservoirs at twice the level of a year ago. San Carlos holds 90,000 acre feet about 50 percent of normal, while Lake Mead near Hoover Dam stores 19,446,000 acre feet, just under last year's level. Roosevelt Lake is four times, Lake Pleasant 6,000 acre feet below, and Lake Havasu near capacity. Current figures contrast with 10 year averages for lakes including Mead, Havasu, and San Carlos, reflecting a strong runoff potential with more snowfall.
