Welfare Board Still Refuses FSA Demand

Arizona State Department of Public Welfare stands by its refusal to accept reservation Indian children for treatment under the cripples program. FSA funds were withheld, risking a $25,000 June deficit, as the Children’s Bureau presses for equal treatment and a special legislative session to fund crippled Indian children. The board also faced a dispute over excluding any class or group in plans, with Katharine Lenroot seeking removal of that exclusion. Florence Yount predicted legislative funding would be found if FSA continues to withhold. The vote to maintain the stance passed unanimously.
