An air force C-47 carrying nine men crashed 100 yards from a Civil Aeronautics Administration station at Summitt Alaska in a rainstorm. Fire and disintegration followed, with eight CAA and five railroad workers racing to aid before heat drove them back. The crew’s names were withheld.

Fire drives 125 from Grace Hotel in Chicago
