Philip Opens Baseball Season With 6 to 1 Win Over Cottonwood

The Philip baseball club opened the season last Friday at the new grounds north of town defeating Cottonwood 6 to 1. Gusty wind and cold weather failed to dampen local fan support as Gimner pitched well and the infield of Darke Shunk and Walpole impressed critics. Attendance reached 150 with Umpire O. B. Meas. The Cottonwood visitors rallied late to pull within two, but Philip held on for the win. Postscript notes arrival of new uniforms and a small mail notice follow.
