Refuses to Leave Prison After Long Sentence
A man sentenced to Sing Sing in May 1917 has overstayed by over seven months and refuses to go home. He works with a construction gang building the new prison, and the wardens say he does as much work as four men. Prison pay is 1 1 2 cents daily. He was told authorities would not suspend his pay to force him to apply for parole, which he has refused.
