Women Beaten by Mob After Alleged Assault on White Women
Two colored women Jessie and Julia Valentine were jailed in Greenwood for allegedly assaulting white women and a man who aided them. A mob of about 150 broke into the jail at 8:15 pm, forcibly removing the prisoners who were resisting arrest by officers M A Corley and C T Nelson.
