Georgia court bars colored Shriners from existence
The Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta on May 15 declared that colored Shriners have no legal right to exist. They are enjoined from using rituals and wearing pins matching the Mystic Shrine design. The group says it will pursue the case to the U S Supreme Court.

Funeral for Editor Caldwell Draws Large Philadelphia Crowd
Abel Payne Caldwell editor of The Philadelphia Courant died at his home 1706 N Woodstock St after a long illness. Born in Chapel Hill NC on April 1 1865 he moved to Philadelphia in 1876 with his mother and brothers. Crazed man shoots wife then attempts suicide in Germantown
A man shot his wife in the kitchen of Mrs. Carl Harrington’s home at 128 W Penn St after she refused to patch up their quarrel. He then turned on gas, slashed his throat, and tried to strangle himself with a tie, later drifting to recovery. maid Katie Butler, 25, was found dead. Harris Butler, the husband, is in Germantown Hospital. The couple had been separated for weeks. Mrs Harrington alerted neighbors and police after hearing cries and shots.
