Boy expelled for refusing to salute the flag in Des Moines
Hubert Eaves an 11 year old colored boy is expelled from Des Moines public schools and sentenced to nine years in the Dora Reformatory after twice refusing to salute the American flag. The decision drew protests from many colored citizens who say the boy acted rightly and criticized racial injustices.
