Hope Arkansas March 10 Walter Avington a colored soldier who married a French girl in France saw his wife visit his sister Jennie Allen in town. White townsfolk threatened her stay overnight. Pleasantville March 8 One of the most elaborate affairs in town featured a troupe of original female minstrels in Mrs Pink Tea at the Crescent Theatre. A crowd filled the house with autos lining the street before doors opened. Directed by Mrs Cora Tucker Scott the all female cast included Irma Wilson Madelie Scott and Mesdames Wilson Taylor and King. The ante bellum sermon by Mrs Lil Nan Bayard drew sustained encores and demand for a repeat performance from leading white citizens.
