Dover reports the Delaware Supreme Court affirmed the three year sentence for Rev Howard D Lober, a Smyrna preacher convicted of immoral conduct with a female child under age. He was resentenced and ordered transferred to the New Castle County workhouse next week.
Tuskegee Institute reports the National Health Week April 21 to 27, 1917 with cooperation from the Clean Up and Paint Up Bureau. Three Sil Cups prizes will be awarded to communities or local committees for the best Clean Up Paint Up campaign reports or work opening week. Local chairmen should contact Emmett J. Scott for guidance and contest details.

Dr. Wm. A. Creditt prevailed in a Court of Common Pleas suit over a $1000 bond issued to pay for his services as lecturer and promoter for the Reliable Mutual Aid and Improvement Society. The verdict also awards the estate of John B. Trower for money lent to promote the society.
On March 6 Judge Butler and House of the Chester County Court closed all four licensed hotels in Coatesville and the two in Downingtown for liquor law violations. Charles L. Huston of Lukens Iron and Steel praised the ruling as a boon, noting many colored workers suffer from drunkenness and labor unrest.
Asby Jackson of Wheeling West Virginia marks twenty years of continuous service with the local fire department. He is the department’s only colored member and has answered more calls than any other firefighter without a severe injury. Jackson is currently a driver honored for his steadfast conduct and respected by superiors and peers.
New Orleans March reports a white-only theater in the city screened The Troop of P K and a Lincolnation Pictures feature, marking the first time a solid white audience in the South sat through and applauded a race film by Noble Johnson and company, creating a distinct sensation.

Mrs. Elder Thompson widow of W J Thompson of 1608 Naudain street was awarded a $600 judgment against the city of Philadelphia for injuries after alleging negligence in not cleaning the alley behind her home.
Washington March 3 Howard University marked fifty years since its charter in a major event series. The Sociological Conference Education Health and Sanitation and Race Cooperation themes drew leaders from Tuskegee Hampton Morehouse and Philadelphia. Oliver O Howard was honored as the founder with alumni gatherings and remarks by Lane Kelsey Kealing and Frazier Miller.
In Rocky Mount on March 5 the colored female workers at a knitting mill struck over ill treatment by the manager who cursed a worker. The superintendent investigated, dismissed the manager, and convinced the workers to return to their jobs.
Charles James alias Charlies Moon was held on $750 bail by U S Commissioner Edmunds for violation of the Harrison drug law with trial set for March 13. Police testify a quantity of narcotics was found in his room.
The First African Baptist Church launched a new charity feature on February 28 designated Donation Day for the needy. Members delivered staple foods all day Tuesday and prepared one hundred baskets for distribution on Wednesday morning to the needy regardless of church affiliation, with plans for annual observance.
Baltimore, March 7. Mr William K Conley headwaiter at 2222 Druid Hill avenue keeps busy booking men for service at the Plaza Hotel Asbury Park. His season hires are noted for their competence and have helped him maintain his standing among headwaiters of large hotels.
