He pled guilty to false pretenses before Judge Willison and received four and a half years in the County Prison. He already served seven years across three prior sentences for similar crimes.

William H. Ridley, the first colored lawyer admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, was sworn in to practice in Philadelphia County courts. The Delaware County Board of Law Examiners praised him highly, and he opened an office at 116 South Fourth Street, Philadelphia.
Dallas Texas June 22 Mrs H D Hamilton was granted a divorce from Dr R T Hamilton in the 44th District Court dated June 1 1914 on grounds of infidelity alleged by the husband who admitted making the accusation and offered no further comment. The case notes indicate other suits pending in high colored society.
Illinois Supreme Court upholds the 1913 woman suffrage law granting women the right to vote on statutory offices and propositions in Illinois. The decision was announced Saturday with a near split, Justices Cooke and Farmer dissenting while Carter Cartwright Dunn and Vicker joined the majority.
