In Wilmington on July 24, W. T. Hemsley warns churches to beware of a man who poses as a British subject and solicits money, claiming to be aiding a return home. The impostor has appeared in Philadelphia and Wilmington churches, using written notes and fabricated stories to extract funds before fleeing.
In Brunswick Georgia on July 18 unidentified attackers from Jessup assaulted a K of P camp held by Black regalia. A white man was seriously wounded as onlookers watched. The incident follows tense local efforts to mobilize riflemen and city officials.
A man named Wallace, 23, of Steubenville, was struck and killed by a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train near Gray's Ferry Road. The incident occurred while he attempted to board the moving train. Robinson, 22, was charged with treason in connection, with details from Harris Lind Street and Woodland creation.
Albert R. Hinton of Greensboro after sixteen years of work plans to turn over his automatic tobacco packing machine to major Durham manufacturers. The device handles bagging weighing folding stamping labeling boxing and carton closing and delivers finished packs. Tests show it could cut labor costs by about 65 percent and Hinton may retain patent control while licensing on royalties.
Friday morning Lipscomb Cottage hosted a solemn wedding ceremony for P. C. Moore of Harrisburg and Miss Cora A. Simmons of Harrisburg. Rev. Dr. S. P. Anderson officiated in the parlor at high noon. The groom is adjutant of Uniform Rank K of P and Harrisburg marshal. the bride is admired by all. The couple departed by afternoon train for Harrisburg to begin their life together.
The Progressive Business Association held its weekly session at Co. A on Tuesday night with Bunn presiding. Speakers shared constructive talks from successful businessmen and outlined plans for broader cooperation among colored business people and coordinated advertising across member enterprises and church meetings.
Mrs Mamie Grant of 920 Waverly street testified in Central Police Court on Wednesday accusing Ida Waters of 625 Addison street of stealing clothing and other items from her home in connection with her husband’s recent death. Waters was held on $400 bail for a further hearing.
The Knights of Pythias held their 10th annual session with secret sessions encampments in Darby and Philadelphia. A downtown street parade led to Central Park and City Hall, plus Grand Lodge meetings at Castle Hall and Addi son streets. The Court of Calanthe also met, officers were elected, and reports signaled a prosperous year.

The National Association for Teachers in Colored Schools opened in Nashville on July 26 with delegates mainly from Southern states. John Hope of Atlanta presiding, an elaborate program planned, including outings and sightseeing, and leaders expected to be re-elected.
Four thousand people packed Olympia Hall in Philadelphia for a memorial service by the A M E Preachers Association honoring the 10th U S Cavalry who fell at Carrizal Mexico on June 21. Rev Reverdy C Ransom led the program with civic and military groups marching in and Bishop L J Coppin presiding.
In Cape May New Jersey William Archer killed his wife after she spent the night away with another man. He then shot himself in the head and is hospitalized in Camden unable to recover. The town reported a rainy Sunday with subdued church attendance and local clergy in attendance.
General Funston reported that about forty colored Illinois guardsmen gathered in a saloon near the reservation after pay day. A clash with white troops led to four guardsmen joining the melee and three Illinois men being wounded in the legs by guard fire. Officials say investigations are underway and the scene is quiet.
A colored syndicate led by Brown & Stevens Bankers of Philadelphia and W H Brown of Washington DC underwrites the entire $50,000 capital and surplus of the Standard Life Insurance Co. This marks a notable advance as colored financial institutions fund a major race enterprise, offering stock to the public through the syndicate and inviting public participation.
Elberton July 24. A Young's Farm employee, stepping into a hole while working in a field, discovered a stash of gold coins valued at $35,900. He left the scene with the coins and is headed elsewhere, with no one else aware of the find.
Judge Martin ruled pastor Rev. D. D. Gibson dismissed and enjoined from church duties. Trustees W. E. Pettiford, R. E. Kitlebrew, and L. G. Jones were declared valid. The long conflict began two years earlier amid voting fights and injunctions. a successor will be named in the fall.
Lawrence Kansas July Miss Louise H Craig age 18 years received the degree of B A at Kansas University summer school commencement. She graduated from school at 15 and entered the university then finishing in three years with her parents also graduates of the university.
Cincinnati July 24 President Hirsch of the Fifth National Bank gave the bank messengers a treat Quiskey He provided two automobiles for a trip to Hamilton The gesture stood out as a rare courtesy to colored attaches of business houses for their loyalty and faithfulness.
In Little Rock Arkansas the governor granted a pardon to a man imprisoned since 1914 after he saved the governor from drowning when a boat capsized during a fishing trip. The rescuer, a Black man, risked his life to pull the governor from deep water six weeks after the incident.
Three year old Oro Prout of 1407 Naudain Street was struck by a trolley at 15th and South Streets. She was taken to Douglass Hospital in fair condition.
