An old sea side health warning from a seasoned doctor cautions against swimming within an hour of eating. He notes excursionists at shore resorts rush to bathing houses after meals and often ignore the two hour rule, leading to more drownings and prostrations.
Word from Father Cleary that Mother Catherine Drexel will join the St Ann School for colored children in Cincinnati for the next year. The noted philanthropist and founder of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament will oversee the program at the John Street church school.
Governor Cole L. Blease of South Carolina says he will turn the State Penitentiary into a hospital by August 1. With fewer than sixty convicts remaining, he notes an average of over one pardon daily and defends every parole and commutation as following the Golden Rule.
Atlantic City July notes list guests and residents including Miss Bila V. Albert teacher from Washington D C guest of Dr and Mrs Braswell on Indiana Ave. Mr Finley from Dayton Ohio visits friends. Local chatter mentions Mrs Emma Mahand Mrs Alice mineen enjoying life at the bathers and cottage gatherings led by Miss Estelle Fitzgerald.
Alberta Simpson, a colored woman, posed as a ghost in an Atlantic Avenue office building. She frightened stenographers into dropping purses and vanity boxes, then hid in retiring rooms and groaned to induce panic. She was captured and sentenced to 30 days in county jail.
Eye Harbor City July 21. Mr Howard M Murphy a Philadelphia businessman lost control of his car on the boulevard and struck a telegraph pole. He and his wife were treated by Dr Beysen and later taken to Hahnemann Hospital Philadelphia. Thousands of motorists visited Egg Harbor City last Sunday en route to Atlantic City. An unclear fragment mentions Mr Watts and Mrs Lewis.
Up to press time no arrest has been made of anyone connected with the mob that damaged Mrs. Mary E Montague’s property at 904 N St Bernard St West Philadelphia. Plainclothes men seeking culprits have not yet gathered sufficient evidence for arrests, though efforts continue to find the leaders.

Berwyn Pa Mt Zion Camp was well attended last Sunday evening and a prayer meeting by the brethren occurred. Several Berwyn residents traveled to Del to visit a camp meeting. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Eberts Mr and Mrs Walter Mr and Mrs Joshua Johnson and Mrs Wm Camper plus Mr Hé Long and Mrs Henrietta Tyre. Mrs Anna Bonds visited relatives in Newport Conn. Lizzie Thomas spent Saturday and Sunday at Malvern with Mrs Sara Taylor. George son of Mr and Mrs Oscar Baylis is ill in Chester hospital awaiting recovery.
A hundred day program boards the steamship Hampton with Hampton Institute youths staging songs dances and ceremonies to raise funds and scholarships. The voyage from Roads Virginia to Bar Harbor aims to showcase Negro music folklore and Native American dances while training new scholars and spreading cultural heritage.
Oyster Bay New Jersey July 21 Col Roosevelt will skip his usual Wednesday trip to Nation tock state beck. He does not intend to run for Governor and backs Harvey D Hinman or another anti Barnes Republican as a candidate. He hopes to control party machinery for 1916 and may push a Progressive Republican amalgamation in Pennsylvania.
