The Philadelphia Inquirer staged a Secret Time Auto Run to Asbury Park New Jersey with 226 cars entered. The average of mayor times set the secret time at 4 hours 1 minute 40 seconds. Ford driving a Ford finished in 4 hours 1 minute 50 seconds and another contestant 4 hours 1 minute 30 seconds. Prizes were split equally between the two closest times, each receiving 125 dollars. Fielding A Ford was the only colored entrant and finished within ten seconds of the target time.
