Atlanta report discusses race bias hindering a farm sale in Forsyth County Georgia. It recounts past violence, militia involvement, and discriminatory practices that require white labor and deny housing to Black workers, reflecting entrenched racial tensions affecting property transactions.
Fannie Smith charged with aggravated assault and battery on Officer Palmer faces trial before Judge Audenried. She says she did not cut Palmer and had no role with two other girls, who testified against her as vice squad companions. Her subsequent sentencing triggered a wild court hysteria.
Solomon T. Huston 83, longtime Hygeia Hotel head waiter, banker founder and Morgan College director, was buried in Salisbury after the largest funeral on the peninsula for a colored person. He rose from tips to wealth, led religious and political life, and returned to his hometown to guide his race. A brother survives him.
Miss Ellen Fitz Pendleton president of Wellesley College visits Atlanta University in Atlanta Georgia. The whole school gathers in Ware Memorial Chapel to welcome her and sing melodies. Pendleton delivers cordial remarks supporting both Atlanta University and Wellesley College.
Miss Mary M Gibson aged 17 wrote the class song music for Radcliffe College in Cambridge Massachusetts. The composition was accepted by the freshmen class and noted as among the brightest student efforts.
Several hundred guests attended the Colored Republican Workers of the Fourth Ward banquet at the United Republican Club rooms. Speeches by Robert J. Moore and others highlighted fraternal ties, with toastmaster Moses G. Johnson guiding remarks on friendship, history, and civic unity across races.
Reverend John Bunyen Reeve long led Lombard Street Central Presbyterian Church for 43 years and taught at Howard University and Lincoln University. Born 1831 in Mattatuck, N.Y., he studied at New York Central College and Union Theological Seminary, was ordained in 1861, and served in Philadelphia and Washington before returning to Philadelphia. Berlin report states Herrig a swine engineer and premier of Abyssinia for 26 years has died at 62. Alfred Kig is noted as the first European to serve as confidential adviser at the Abyssinian court.

In Pittsburgh and Allegheny County the colored engineers organized to travel to Youngstown Ohio as strikebreakers during the recent strike riots. The union acted to stop the move and now recognizes them as organized non scabs and will not send them to Ohio.
Eugene V. Debs denounces the film The Birth of a Nation in Terre Haute Indiana, criticizing its portrayal as historically incomplete and alleging it ignores widespread white supremacy outrages against Black women, while contrasting with a single alleged act by a Black man in the play. Debs also faults Thomas Dixon, cited as the film’s source of the scenario.
Surgeon Joseph Goldberger of the Public Health Service spoke on Pellagra at the Workers Conference in Tuskegee Alabama. He outlined prevention and treatment methods to teachers ministers and other leaders, with his work detailed by Surgeon General Blue of the Federal Bureau.

The Lyceum of Mt. Zion AME Church, Tone Chapel, is newly organized as the Henderson Memorial Lyceum in honor of the late Rev. T. W. Henderson of Philadelphia. It has been honored by Newport Mayor W. P. Sheffield, Rhode Island M. W. G. M. Dr. W. H. Matthews, and Newport Daily News exec. Benjamin F. Thurston.
A Milwaukee woman and an older Negro accompanied by a well known man arrived at the County Clerk's office on New Years day seeking a marriage license. Clerk Lew A. Hendee refused and sent them back to Milwaukee after investigators confirmed her notoriety in police circles.
In Hartford on January 18 the city’s leading theatres began employing colored girl ushers for all performances. The practice is to be adopted by other New England theatres under the same syndicate.
In Detroit on January 18, Mr. Smallwood, longtime barber at the Pioneer Hotel, was found dead on Henry Ford’s farm. The report notes the location and known occupation of the deceased while detailing the discovery.
In 1915 the Citizens Republican Club held a memorial at Cherry Memorial Church for twenty one deceased members. About one hundred attendees gathered as a procession, prayers, eulogies, and choir performances honored the departed. Speeches by Geo H White W M Johnson and Chris Perry closed the service.
