Rev. Dr. E W Moore of Second Baptist church Columbus has accepted appointment as General Chaplain of Army Captains by the National Baptist Convention. He will not resign his church but will take a leave of absence while continuing to pastor in Philadelphia previously. Police census from Washington shows population totals 395000 with 402 colored residents per 1000. Colored females outnumber colored males by 9234. Fifth Ward Case Witness Arrested for Assault
Mrs Emily Barnes of 22nd and Arch streets had Mrs Emma Griffith of 630 Cypress street arrested after claiming an assault Monday night at 8th and South Streets. Police say Griffith slapped Barnes at the police station on 2nd and Christian streets. Griffith's testimony was key against the gunmen in the Sth Ward case. She was held for court under $500 bail.
