Rochester Woman of National Repute Opens in the Big Town Louise W Hill, formerly of Ro, inaugurates a beauty parlor equipped with electrical apparatus for beautifying the hair and face. The eight working rooms are sanitary and spotless with reception and show rooms for patrons. Establishment cost readout shows 422 dollars.
Atlantic City December 28 The Day resignation at Indiana Avenue School ended with the district paying back salary due to Prof Day. He had written the resignation to take effect at term end but did not stay to term’s close. the payment was made December 22 citing prudence and justice.
In Danville Illinois William Pitt colored faces a Grand Jury assault charge after stepping on a cat tail during a domestic dispute. A hatchet flew at his wife and a lamp was struck causing a fire as neighbors summoned police. Pitt is jailed in default of bond.
Washington Dec 27 The Indian Bureau will ban school books that classify Indians as Mongolian or refer to them by non distinct race terms. Commissioner Sells announced an order to remove such publications from authorized Indian school lists after consultations with the Smithsonian’s Bureau of Ethnology. He noted Indians are a distinct race the Red Race in contrast to White Mongolian Yellow Malay and Black races.
Twenty two thousand dollars in Christmas savings checks were distributed to 1003 Brown Saving and Banking Co members. An additional ten thousand dollars was paid on the next day as the bank prepared for 1915. The scene at the Norfolk bank showed a table stacked with cash and many customers converting checks into savings accounts. The 1915 club will open January 4, and the bank expects to handle all who come next year.
Matthew R. Green, a prominent local businessman, died at his late residence 1609 Bain Street. The obituary notes his ties to the community and his business contributions.
Mrs Lucretia Nichols of 1709 Federal Street sued a moving picture house after being pushed down in the crowded lobby on June 4. Judge McNeely awarded Nichols $20 damages and costs. the defendants paid costs. Nichols acted as her own counsel.
In Sandusky Ohio on December 2 a farmer visits the Ohio Soldiers' Home and, after a woman barber shaves him, he and his newly found barber go to a moving picture show. A proposal named Yes. Wedding bells soon ring as romance unfolds with John A Kelley, fifty six, described as farmer and stock shave, sharing an evening at the cinema.

Edward W. Patton longtime Select Council member from the Twenty-seventh Ward resigns to take effect January 1 and join the Pennsylvania State Senate representing the Fourth Senatorial District. The resolution lauds his service and wishes him success in the new role. Col. Patton has also been a 26 year Tribune subscriber.
Walter Campbell a colored barber was buried in Little Rock after a bet with a white undertaker over whether Campbell would shave or Johnson win. The procession used elaborate caskets and carriages supplied by the undertaker.
