In Dyersburg Tennessee hundreds join a campaign to erect a $20,000 memorial for the late Dr. John B. Reeve. Donations pour in from friends in local and other cities as tributes describe him as a noble, influential figure in the community.
Captain Hart, promoted to Chief Sanitary Inspector, was assigned to duty at the Aviation Cantonment at Camp Beauregard in Alexandria, Louisiana. He is to report to his new post Monday night after recent work with the Philadelphia Home Defense colored troops.

In Dyersburg Tennessee a mob of 8000 executed Lation Scott a 30 year old Black man by burning him at the stake for an assault on a white woman. The ritual torture began after he was taken from sheriff custody and bound to an iron post amid a chilling crowd. The event continued for minutes as hot pokers and irons seared his back and side before the crowd piled rubbish and flames around the body. The pageant ended with a confession from a citizen juror and the mob’s demand for burning, marking a brutal act that dominated local headlines and stirred shock across the region.
Halifax reports place death toll at 2000 with vast injuries. A munition ship Mont Blanc of France collided with Belgian relief ship Ioma during a great storm, sending blasts felt 61 miles away as relief trains from Canada and the United States rush to scene.

Richmond Virginia December 2 A young man Chastine Norris was jailed for breaking a street show case in front of Burnett Lewis store. Detective Kellam arrested Norris for breaking the case with intent to rob and he was sentenced to 80 days on the road. The storekeeper later said Endie Bone and the young man were innocent, noting prejudice by Southern officers and judges.
The Nashville Colored Tennessee, begun in 1865 as the state’s first colored paper, reports the death of its editor with a widow, four daughters, and four sons listed among the well known family.
