James Mason Dies After Months of Illness at 2111 Reed Street
D James Mason died at his Reed Street home on April 20 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held April 24 at Bethel church. He was born March 19 1862 in Philadelphia, son of Robert James Mason and Margaret Shorts Mason. He served as Sunday school superintendent for fourteen years and held multiple church positions. He left four children J Winsmore Ita Georges A and Evelyn K with three active in Mother Bethel Church. Georges A. died in 1915.

In Washington D C on April 19 George Jackson a 33 year old man shot and killed his nine year old niece Agnes Jackson at 1117 Seventh Street Southeast. Police say he appeared crazed after drinking homemade alcohol jumper. He shot himself in the head and four shots were fired. The wounded man was taken to Freedmen's Hospital.

Collision Kills Three on Louisville & Nashville Trains
In Mobile Alabama and near Bayminette three L and N train crew members died after a head on collision between trains Nos 2 and 3 caused by a failed switch in rain and storm. The dead are engineer John A. Spruell 55 express messenger L. A. Culver 35 and porter Harry Scott all of Montgomery and Mobile respectively. Two seriously injured include Major Saxton and George Carter both of Montgomery. A passenger Leila King of New York sustained a minor injury. Traffic resumed by 4 pm and all trains ran on time tonight.

Harrisburg April 14 Philadelphia county industrial workers suffered 32 fatal accidents during March according to a report by Clifford B Connelley Commissioner of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Statewide fatalities reached 218 for the month Seventy four victims were in industries fifty five were public service workers and eighty nine were miners There were five more March fatalities than in February when 213 were reported by the State Bureau of Inspection.

David S. Pickens, hoseman of Engine Co. No. 11, received a telegram from his brother Rev. Wm. H. Pickens, pastor in Mobile Alabama, saying oil men offered 150000 for 400 acres of land inherited from a relative near Conrow, Texas.
