Buffalo reports show the president’s condition remains unfavorable with digestion issues. Bulletin notes food rejected and kidneys active, pulse 128, temperature 100.2, wound healing, rest solid, doctors sign off with limited improvement by evening.
Six days after the shooting President McKinley’s condition improved then worsened as doctors reported food would not agree with him. They noted low pulse, unsettled bowel action, fatigue, and that solid food had been resumed briefly with broth and toast earlier.
Doctors in charge report the President remains near stable at Milburn House with outer abdominal wound healing slowly. Tests show normal white blood cell to red blood cell ratio, no signs of septicaemia, while Mrs McKinley and Abner McKinley await further visits as physicians plan a cautious, month long recovery.

Mayor Harrison orders all steam boilers under sidewalks in Chicago removed. Boiler Inspector Blaney has begun serving notices. The number of boilers is not known but likely hundreds or thousands. The mayor warned that explosions would cause extensive damage.
