President elect McKinley pledges to maintain fundamental government principles under the coming administration. He assures the public there is no cause for fear as policy will preserve stability and public welfare.
Cabinet officials and eminent Philadelphians joined Joseph G Darlington in a Union League Founders Day banquet in his honor. President McKinley, with his Cabinet and Roosevelt, received a cordial greeting as crowds cheered along his arrival and march to the Teague House for the thirty eight year event.
State Representative Robert A. Linton of the Twenty second district issues a signed statement opposing Colonel M. S. Quay for United States Senator and refusing to join any caucus. He says he will not vote for Quay under any circumstances and denounces being counted among Quay supporters.

William Lemburg, 73, shot and killed his wife Kate, 53, in their Brooklyn home. Evidence described a rope halter in a cupboard. Lemburg attempted suicide with a revolver but died by his own hand. Daughter found the bodies on returning to lunch. No cause was given.
In the Orphans Court Edward Bott estate the judge rejected Maggie Clark as Bott's widow. Bott left about 69000 dollars with the will to pay to his son Edward Bott at age 25, while executors and trustees manage the trust.

Deputy Coroner Hammond led a inquest into Harry Mohr of 235 North Ninth street who died of consumption while under pune treatment by local Christian Scientists. The jury acquitted the Christian Scientists, saying Mohr's case was hopeless before admission.

Special telegram from Lancaster reports Bradley Curry, about 27, of Philadelphia, fell forty feet from the Pennsylvania Railroad bridge over Mill Creek. He was found by ash pit men, brought to Lancaster County Hospital, and died of injuries after a pawn ticket identified him.
Special Telegram reports Captain Smedley P. Butler of the U S Marine Corps in China, son of Congressman Thomas Butler, is due home for Christmas. He will be a guest of Lieutenant Leonard, a Marine who lost an arm at Tien Tsin, as West Chester plans a banquet for Butler with about 150 residents invited.
The Wo mans Club of Lebanon observed Reciprocity Day with guests including Mrs Ellis P Campbell, president of the State Federation of Woman's Clubs, and representatives from Columbia to Mechanicsburg. Mrs Horace Brock welcomed the visitors and Mrs Campbell replied.
