The Times reports a scheme by Republican machine leaders to plant repeaters in the Thirteenth ward. Outside workers arrived in the Tenderloin and were lodged near Franklin and Callowhill, Eighth and Noble, Ninth and Wood. Walter J. Cathrall, known as Doctor or Caddy, runs an area with multiple fake registrations at 084 Spring Garden street and 34 Spring Garden street. Eight names allegedly tied to 908 Spring Garden street, home of Cathrall, show registered voters though few are real. Cathrall admits several names are padded and only six of ten listed at 984 Spring Garden street are genuine.

Andrew Burk a 40 year old fireman on the steamer Indian collapsed in the engine room near Pine street wharf Delaware River and was scalded to death by escaping steam. His brother Patrick Burk found him near the steam pipes. burk lived at 608 Mountain Street and had served the owning company for over twenty years.
James E. Sanborn of 50 Cambridge street read in breakfast news that he had died the night before by falling into the Delaware River at Pier 1 South Wharves and drowning. The drowned man remains unidentified though a card bearing EB Sanborn 2128 Market street was found, possibly a business card for James E. Sanborn's father. The man was about 35, 165 pounds, dark complexion and hair, moustache, wearing a black diagonal cutaway Safer pire.
A Times reporter visited Spreckels Sugar Refinery near Reed Street and spoke with Otto J. Peterson, superintendent. Peterson dismissed the charges as ridiculous and showed calm indifference, saying there is no use denying or affirming the affair.

Phoenixville reports Mrs. Charles Gunther died after her son Wilmer Harrington was jailed for alleged robbery. The mother had muddled by laudanum suicide attempt and collapsed while seeing Harrington transported to Norristown Jail. Harrington served in Company D during the Spanish American War.
Phillip Holmes, 20, of 655 Holly Street, tried to intervene in a street quarrel at Preston and Lancaster avenues. Found bleeding from two thigh wounds by Policeman Steward and sent to Presbyterian Hospital. Holmes says he assisted as a peacemaker before being stabbed by one of the men.
