Magee Dies in Harrisburg After Illness
State Senator Christopher Lyman Magee of Pittsburgh editor and philanthropist died at his Harrisburg home after a two year battle with internal ailments. At his bedside were family and friends as Governor Stone called him a great public loss and noted Magee’s charitable works. Magee had been ill since the last legislative session and voted for John Dalzell on the only ballot he witnessed. The body was to be taken to Pittsburgh the next day.
