Amid heavy fire and near-continuous lead, South Africa's Cronje fights on with steadfast valor, earning praise as the Lion of South Africa while English forces watch in astonishment at his resilience.

At about 5 30 last evening two men collapsed and died in Philadelphia at separate spots near Point Breeze and the Market Street ferry. Coroners were summoned though heart disease is believed to be the cause. Tape Cox 42 of 1332 Morris street and Nicholas Buzby of Burlington New Jersey died within minutes of each other. Cox’s death mirrors his father’s death two months earlier in a nearby area. Cox had gone to the river to see his brother a tugboat fireman when he fell. His body was taken to the morgue after being attended by officers and bystanders near the ferry ticket office.
Advices say the British steamer Torino, previously reported to have founder off Pensacola in Tuesday night storm, arrived safely at Havana yesterday morning. The vessel, feared lost, turned up uninjured at Havana, New York, on February 24. The report confirms the Torino survived the rough weather and reached port.

Employed by Northwestern Mining and Exchange Company at Brockwayville Crenshaw and Dagus mines about 1000 workers will receive a 20 percent wage increase effective March 1. This marks the second raise in eight months and follows a notice that after March 1 the rate will rise to 55 6 cents per ton with penalties for rate violations and improper handling of machinery and day labor.

New York report details the murder of Mamie Hayes by Dr. Franklin L. Caldwell in the Hotel Endicott apartment. Caldwell, an assistant to Hayes, killed Mrs. Hayes then shot himself after morphine was traced to him. all died from gunshot wounds as the scene revealed a fatal double tragedy.
In Binghamton New York on February 24 Edith L Smith of New York and Frank Mercereau wed. The ceremony used a phonograph recording of Edith's late father reciting the marriage service, spoken as if alive, after the father died some time before.
Robert McIntosh a 55 year old resident of 4732 Market street was killed last night when trolley No 142 on Market street struck him at Forty-eighth and Market. Slightly deaf he did not hear the gong as Motorman Differn sounded it. The car dragged him and he died before reaching Presbyterian Hospital from head and body injuries.

ER D MilTier of Savannah Ga attempted suicide at the Bingham House on Friday night. He is in critical condition at Jefferson Hospital with one bullet lodged and another removed. Dengue fever weakened his system as he confided to doctors he did not wish to live. His wife and child Ernestine visited him and a note requested burial with him over his heart along with letters to wife Bevin and local fraternal orders.
