Mrs Mary Devine of S77 Lex Street awoke to find her two month old baby dead in a baby couch. The infant had been ill since birth and the mother could not afford proper food. Mia Devine had been placing the child in a baby carriage due to lacking a cot.
Special Cablegram reports that Lord Roberts forces relieved Ladysmith this morning amid jubilation outside offices. Details not yet provided. The news, dated February 24, departs from London and is received with strong public celebration in the city.
A Philadelphia visitor identified as E. D. Millier, a Bingham House guest, attempted self harm last night. He was found unconscious with two bullet holes in his breast and is in extremely critical condition at Jefferson Hospital. A note and four photographs were found on him, with a plea to be buried with them. The name Milller may be assumed and a brother named E Bevin is said to live at 405 South Eighth street.
Ezekiel M Eames and wife Kate testified before Judge Pennypacker in the Desertion Court over non support. They lived with his mother at 2442 South Watts Street. The wife said she was denied admission after visiting a sister in law and received letters demanding she support herself. The court awarded the wife 85 a week. Michael Trainer faced non support charges but was dismissed after testimony. Mrs Trainer accused her husband of drunkenness and non work while admitting she drank. The court issued care.
Faulkner for the defense said the Clark case would rest for the present with two or three witnesses to come later. Do. W. Clark was recalled for a few questions and then Attorney General Nolan of Montana testified for the protestants in rebuttal.

A fire on the third floor of the Custer Building caused extensive injuries to residents and workers. Beckie Karnatz, Clara Uver, Bernhardt Cohn, Walter Barret, Ouonee Sweeney, William Hughes, George Jennings, Daisy Julian, and Isaiah Corbin sustained various burns, abrasions, and blows from falling glass and smoke as flames spread rapidly through straw goods stored by 8 May & Co.
