An unknown vessel believed to be an oil carrier burned powerless to aid as flames enveloped the ship. All crew members perish, with the captain and his wife remaining aboard until the end in a dramatic, fatal disaster at sea.
A burning oil vessel bound from New York to Liverpool was sighted by the Egyptian Monarch. Six volunteers rowed a lifeboat toward the flames but were dashed by a tempest. The captain and his wife perished on the bowsprit as the other ship's crew found no rescue.

In Ironwood Michigan last night a fire destroyed Charles B Edwards saloon building housing Charles DeLong Camp his wife and all their children in the second story. Albert Marie and Charles Camp ages seven six and two were burned to death with the building. The mother with a two week old infant and two older children were rescued after great effort. Several citizens were seriously burned while attempting to rescue the children.
Mrs Mary Cummings suffered severe burns last night when her clothing caught fire while lighting a lamp at 2037 Federal Street. Neighbors aided, but both she and William Green were burned. they were taken to Pennsylvania Hospital with injuries. Doctors have limited hopes for Mrs Cummings due to advanced age.
