Steamship George Cromwell likely lost January 6 off Cape St Mary's. a wreck fragment was found in Pleocentia bay with all aboard presumed dead. Departures since Friday include Achilles Newburyport Catharine Whiting Norwest Moston equane Charleston Witchoot New York and others. The schooner Louisa A Johnson deteriorated rapidly, hull damage forcing grounding near Portland head.

Seven spans of the Lewistown and Sunbury bridge over the Susquehanna at Selinsgrove Snyder county were burned last night. The eighth span was cut and dropped into the water to halt the fire. Discovered at two locations the blaze appears set by an incendiary. Loss about 35000 dollars fully insured.
A fire at 1 o'clock this morning destroyed over thirty buildings in a quarter mile by five hundred feet area. Loss totals exceed 150000 on structures and about 50000 on stock. Sparks ignited additional remote buildings causing further damage.
